Doritos created a unique competition this year called "Crahs the Superbowl" where the solicited people to create their own superbowl ad and submit it online. Starting January 1, 2007 they will be running a playoff round of the self created ads and will solicit votes from the internet community to decide which spot they will air on Superbowl day.
16 Videos will be selected to make the initial playoff round on Jan 1st, 2007. From there 8 will be selected to move into round two which will take place on Jan 3rd, 2007. Finally 5 Finalists will be selected and the finals will take place on 1/5/07.
Each of the 5 finalists will receive a cash prize of $10,000 dollars and a trip to Miami for a private Superbowl XLI viewing party.
It looks like America won't get a chance to vote for the final ad until the top 5 finalists are selected, then from there one ad will be picked to be aired as a Doritos commercial during the Super Bowl XLI broadcast.
